Quarantine Still-Life: Naturally Mutative Species, by David Ignacio (@davidignco)

I am a First Generation Immigrant, born and raised in the Philippines and currently studying Sculpture at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. In my paintings, I explore the boundaries shared between interior and exterior spaces - both physical and psychological spaces under the stress of environmental existentialism. I believe that painting allows me to visualize my soul on a surface and make my abstract thoughts concrete in a way that I can share with others.

This painting is born from my subconscious from looking outside the window during this period of isolation. When the boundaries between the outside and the inside become obsolete, paying close attention to every detail indoors comes almost naturally. I love the power that nature can heal itself and us as we continue to cope with this new reality.
